This month we are excited to give you a behind the scenes look at the recent filming we undertook in Paris, Ghent and London. To film our Journey of Discovery into the Speciality Beer Scene, Jef, our Master Brewer at the Van Steenberge Brewery, chatted with beer bloggers, chefs and pub owners to find out more about everything from cooking with beer to what it’s like to own a craft beer bar. Here’s an exclusive look at what we got up to! Ghent The St. Stefanus team travelled to the Ghent Festival, or Gentse Feeste, in July. The festival dates back to 1843, and is an incredible way to find out more about the history and traditions of this beautiful city. Here is a photo of the parade, with people in traditional dress in the foreground against a backdrop of typical Belgian architecture. The parade at the Ghent Festival Today, the festival is made up of many different smaller festivals that celebrate Belgian culture. People can enjoy world music, street theatre, puppetry, comedy, food, and of course, beer tents offering the best in Belgian lagers and ales. The Van Steenberge Brewery, where our beer is brewed, also has a tent at the festival. Overlooking the beer tents and music stages at the Ghent Festival London While in London we filmed at several different locations, including The Draft House, Seething Lane, a speciality beer pub serving St. Stefanus. Here is a behind the scenes look at Jef demonstrating the angle to store 750ml bottles. Jef interviewed head chef Richard to discover just why cooking with St. Stefanus could add another dimension to the flavours of your food. A behind the scenes look 'on set' Paris The speciality and craft beer scene in Paris is booming, and microbreweries and speciality beer pubs are opening to serve the demand. One of these pubs is Le Bouillon Belge, where we spent a day discovering what it’s like to own a speciality beer pub. Jef can be seen below demonstrating how to pour St. Stefanus on draught.
