The Ghent Festival

Could you handle a 10-day festival of beer, food, live music, comedy shows, parades and more?

If the answer is yes, then you need to visit the next Ghent Festival, or Gentse Feesten. This annual extravaganza attracts around 2 million visitors to the Belgian city of Ghent – and is well worth the trip.

With ten days of revelry literally taking over the city, the festival can illicit mixed feelings amongst Ghent residents. As our Master Brewer (and Ghent local), Jef Versele, describes, many of the city’s residents love it so much that they take leave from their jobs to enjoy the festivities to their fullest. However, just as many pack up and head elsewhere to escape for the duration of the festival!

Besides the fantastic array of Belgian and international beers available from no fewer than 10 beer tents, Jef’s personal highlight is the parades. Winding through the city streets, they tell the story of Ghent’s rich and tumultuous history.
