This month, we’ve been celebrating the Speciality Beer Masterclass. We’ve already explored maturation, storing & pouring your speciality beer, and analysed the importance of the beer glass.
We’re now looking closer at the origins of our Belgian Abbey beer, and the history behind our name. Unless you live in Belgium, you will know our beer as St. Stefanus. However, in Belgium itself, our beer is known as Augustijn.
The name St. Stefanus strengthens and celebrates our relationship with the Sint Stefanus monastery, where our beer was first brewed in 1295. Learn more in our video with our Master Brewer, Jef Versele, and Father Paul from the Sint Stefanus monastery.
